Inspiring children and their adult helpers to garden is what Karden is all about. Authors Michael Glassman and Lisa Ely of the Kinder Gardens series will once again be featured in the garden pavilion at the Expo Jan. 27 - 29. With three successful books already released, these garden enthusiasts are helping families and children get excited about gardening. Learn, giggle and grow is the motto for Karden, the puppet featured in their books. Their website, www.kardenscorner.com, features daily ideas to get people excited about playing in the dirt and each book is chock full of photos and creative ideas to keep everyone excited about gardening.

Karden is quickly becoming a trusted face in the home garden arena and after visiting with him at the Expo you'll understand why. Karden makes gardening, growing plants, playing in the soil, pulling out scraggly weeds and watering plants special for all ages!

Still smiling from the success of last year's contest, Karden and his team of sponsors will build another dream garden for another winning school. Last year's winning design was dreamt up by third grader Matthew Ng from Joseph Sims Elementary School in Elk Grove, CA. The space is the center of the school and students from all grade levels use the garden in their curriculum. Come vote for your favorite innovative "dream" garden and help a school win. Based on student's designs, the final gardens will be created and displayed in miniature version at the Northern California Home & Landscape Expo where the public will be encouraged to vote for their favorite display. The dream garden with the most votes wins and that garden will be installed in the following weeks at the winning school!

Let them get dirty!
Karden is a youth activity brand that is becoming the voice for children in the important cross-section between two enormous current movements – environment and kids health. Karden stresses a new approach to healthy eating through outdoor gardening activities. The concept is simple. If you grow it, you will eat it. The White House has launched two campaigns this year that directly support these concepts.

Children need at least one hour of physical activity each day. It's a simple guideline, but it can make a huge difference in a child's health and well-being. With Karden, that activity is gardening, and it offers great rewards!

Join Karden and the authors at the Expo everyday and engage in energetic hands-on activities. Learn tips and games to help your garden and family grow together. Also, be sure to stop by and vote for one of three dream school gardens. One lucky student will win that garden for their school to be installed by the Karden team a couple weeks after the Expo!

Throughout the Expo there will be various activities for children and families to do in Karden's Corner. From garden games to creative potting ideas, come join in on the fun!
